Welcome to the new face of Body Tune Physical Therapy and Wellness
Makina is excited to meet you and help you along your rehab journey! She grew up knowing she would end up in the medical field because of her fascination with how the human body works. She played a variety of sports (basketball and soccer being her favorite), which grew her love for exercise, movement, and how the body functions. During her high school years, she injured her hamstring playing soccer. Having to come back from her hamstring tear helped her discover her passion for rehabilitation and helping others get back to doing their desired activities.
She attended Layton High School and graduated in 2015. While at Layton High, she played basketball and volleyball for the high school, as well as soccer for an independent team. She furthered her education at Utah State University, graduating with her Bachelor’s degree in Human Movement Science and a minor in Psychology. While at Utah State, she helped to develop and conduct a research study measuring the effects an electrical stimulus applied to the vestibular system has on the human body.
She then attended the University of Utah, where she graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy. While working on her doctorate degree, she had the opportunity to assist in directing activity courses, such as boxing and Pilates, for individuals with neurologic diagnoses to help better these individual’s balance and quality of life. Her education and experiences during school helped her to recognize the importance of a holistic approach to therapy, rather than focusing on just the physical limitations. She has a special interest in working with athletes, as well as patients with balance and vestibular system dysfunction.
She has furthered her education by becoming certified in dry needling. She plans to continue her education and the tools she can use with her patients through additional courses focusing on treating the vestibular system and advanced dry needling techniques.
When she is not working in the clinic, you will find Makina spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She loves being outdoors, playing sports, and enjoying life to the fullest!

We have many other great therapists that can see you in the meantime! Makina's hours will be updated when she returns to work.
